aww, I'm very greatful to scientists who strive to make the lives of humans easier- but I could never be one because I would hate to hurt animals- even rats. I always thought that scientists and artists are from different worlds, but you're both -that's very thought provoking.
Very powerful image

The use of animals in scientific research is always (EVENLY) a problematic argument. I “worked” with rats for the first (and last) time during an apprenticeship in Spain the past year. Here I discovered there is very rigid and strict “legislation” about the treatment of the animals involved in sperimentation (simplify: you had to use the lower number of animals possible, and this number has to be declared to an ethic commission of the university, they don’t be stressed (= good living setting and god alimentation) and, if they had to be sacrificed, the death has to be rapid and without pain)…
I think that often the animals destined to the research in some way have a better life rather than those destined to the butchering (I’m still upset by the memory of a poultry farm a saw…;), but I think that in future, if I will have the possibilities to choose, I will avoid to work on animals again
I don't know why, when I reply, ALWAYS appears that STUPID emoticon that, obviously, I didn't key in...
Thank! you are always very nice!
if poor rats' known you, it can transform a continuous protestation. :):):):):):):):):):):):)

Yeah, both sides of the argument are very valid. I guess sometimes we have no choice with the experiments. I had to dissect a fetal pig in highschool once, I felt so horrible afterwards - though that's not as important as trying to find cures for diseases and what not. Such a waste of life...I didn't even learn anything.
I took this class in college about animal rights, and the professor was an EXTREME pro animal rights activist. It was a horrible class...We had to watch all these videos of animals being tortured in labs and factory farms. I was crying after every class. I still feel guilty every time I eat meat products heh. I don't know why I told you that! ^^;

It's beautifully depressing. I like Rats, they're sweet. We had a couple spend some time in our science class for a few weeks and I found myself quickly bonding and liking them.

Chances are, if the pairing exists, I probably ship it. =D
This pic is adorable..... in a kind of depressing sort of way. :P
